Maison Ogeu
Origins of the Spring
The Ogeu springs have been known and enjoyed since the Middle Ages, but it was the French king, Henri IV who was the first to regulate the use of the springs’ waters.
And so it was that Countess Diane d’Andoins, confidante of Henri IV and known as “the beautiful Corisande”, started the fashion of “taking the waters”, to which she said she owed her tall, slim figure.
She visited regularly from her castle in Hagetmau and said that the key to her radiance was “taking the waters”. Well-known for her obsession with good health, the ladies of the court quickly followed her example and the Ogeu springs became one of their beauty secrets.
Ogeu Springs, more than 200 years of history
The thermal history of the springs started in 1820, in the heart of the Béarn region of the Pyrenees.
Initially, a thermal spring water centre was created at the point at which the water rises, followed by a natural mineral water bottling site, which marked the beginning of the Ogeu Group’s great adventure. The Group is now the French leader for regional mineral waters in France.
The same family has been managing the Company since it was founded and continues to plot its course into the future. Chairperson, Jean-Hervé Chassaigne and his sister, Pascale Lapassade continue to determine the Group’s exciting adventures, which started almost 200 years ago at the foot of our mountains…
Everybody has a childhood Ogeu favourite
The Ogeu mineral waters, the Limonade des Neiges, the orangeades and citronnades characterize a territory and unleash a torrent of memories for many who have grown up with them.
The mineral water, lemonade and fruit-based sparkling drinks have contributed to the creation of a collective memory that is embellished with the laughter of children and the dance of bubbles in glasses at tea-time, mealtimes and other moments of happiness created by Ogeu, at the foot of the Pyrenees, for almost 75 years.
